International Alumni Webinars (Action code: W)

This action in the HHF project consists in organizing seminars and lectures delivered by MUG’s International Alumni in a remote manner over the internet.

Among the Graduates of the Medical University of Gdańsk there are various specialists with substantial or even remarkable expertise in their fields. Therefore, we have organized and will continue to organize extracurricular seminars with a view to:

  • reinforce our International Alumni’s connections with the University and current students
  • create a new opportunity for our current students (both international and native Polish) to:
    • benefit from our Alumni’s knowledge and professional experience
    • boost their motivation for learning, research and practical training
    • reinforce their perception of our university as an effective incubator of successful medical careers.

General information for seminars / webinars to be organized in the future:
  • Proposed structure for the webinars:
    • 1. Introduction by the MUG host and short self-presentation of the lecturer (up to 5 minutes)
    • 2. Presentation of the topic (20-40 minutes)
    • 3. Questions and Answers (15-20 minutes)
  • Duration – 40-70 minutes
  • Time: 17:00 at the earliest (to be agreed with the lecturer)
  • Topic – selected by the IA, agreed with MUG representatives; the topic may refer to any of the medical/biomedical sciences, clinical problems, research-related issues, the lecturer’s experience of practice in the healthcare or research or interdisciplinary environment, interactions between medicine/biomedical sciences and other fields of knowledge and technology
  • Target audience – undergraduate and/or doctoral students of medicine, pharmacy or biotechnology; online up to 300 participants
  • Technical requirements:
    • audio+video streaming via a fast, broadband network connection;
    • the lecturer (IA) should be equipped with a standalone conference camera or built-in camera in their computer, and appropriate conference software (Zoom) to enable combined video streaming of the image from the camera plus the slideshow presentation;
    • connection and full operation of the system must be checked 2-4 weeks before the agreed Webinar date and again 30-60 minutes prior to start of the Webinar event.

We look forward to our International Alumni volunteering to deliver a seminar or lecture to the current students of our University.

Volunteers, please, submit your suggestions of topics and preferred dates for your presentations at iaro@gumed.edu.pl. This request also refers to the Colleagues who have already expressed their preliminary interest and consent to participate. p<>. Please, inform us early of your preferred date and topic, even if the date is remote, so that the complete schedule can be generated before the action starts.
